Orihuela In Southern Spain Has One Of The World’s Best Climates

Orihuela City is the capital of the region of Southern Spain of the same name and lies about 20 miles inland from the coast. The overall area stretches down to the coast and covers a number of small towns and villages. There is a considerable amount of farmland with orchards and palm groves and about 16 km of beaches with some of the best blue flag awards in Europe. The main beaches are Dehesa de Campoamor and La Zenia, and the area has two marinas and three golf courses, which, of course, will appeal to many retirees.

The marinas are at Dehesa de Campoamor and Cabo Roig where there are also plenty of water sports. Horse riding and tennis are also popular, and the area has a lot of walking trails as well.

Orihuela has a temperate climate, and the World Health Organisation in 1986 recommended it as one of the most equitable in the world, easily averaging over 20°C on most days and with an average 325 days of sunshine a year. In fact, it is not too hot in the summer, nor yet too cold in the winter. Most of us wouldn’t be unhappy with that.

Estepona Would Be A Great Town For A Property Investment

If you have never been to Estepona in Southern Spain, now would be a good time to go. It is a wonderful coastal town which is often overlooked in favour of Marbella just 20 minutes’ drive away and has no less than 21km of beaches with the sun warming them for most days of the year.

Estepona is not behind when it comes to tourism as it looks after tourists just as well as the other towns on the Costa del Sol, but it has somehow managed to retain its’ vibrant Spanish look, and nowhere is this more obvious than in the old quarter. The little cobbled lanes are lined with whitewashed houses covered in plant pots with colourful flowers in blues, greens, reds, yellows, and more.

However, at the moment Estepona is not as famous as Marbella, Fuengirola, and Torremolinos, and its’ beaches do not get as crowded, even in the summer. Even the main beach, Playa Rada, is less crowded than those of the other Costas, and it has a lovely line of chiringuitos and seafood restaurants backing it. Furthermore, it is only a ten-minute walk into the old town. There is also a nudist beach ten minutes’ drive away, Playa Costa Natura.

Estepona has some great restaurants – Mexican, Italian, Chinese, and Indian, but best of all are the seafood restaurants. La Escorella is down by the port and gets its supplies fresh off the boat each morning. Restaurant El Pescador is also well worth visiting.

If you are looking for an overseas investment property, then you might wish to consider apartments for sale in Estepona. The reason is that the town council is ensuring that building licences are approved quickly, yet keeping the town clean and green, as it seeks to become another Marbella in the longer term. The result is that property prices are rising and will continue to do so, but at the moment are a lot cheaper than in Marbella. If you look at the comparative prices of a three-bedroom town house, one in Golf Green Estepona is €299,000, while a similar one – although not exactly the same – in Marbella is currently €700,000, so now would be a good time to get a foot on the ladder.

SANTA PONSA IS A GREAT TOWN FOR AN OVERSEAS PROPERTY INVESTMENT

If you are not familiar with Santa Ponsa,it is one of the hottest holiday destinations in Mallorca, boasting a beach that is 500 metres wide and over 1,300 metres long, making it the one of the largest on the island. It is situated in the South West of the island and is only 20km from Palma. Popular with Brits for over 40 years, it also attracts an international crowd, especially the Germans, and is noted for its’ safe waters and lots of local restaurants and bars. Indeed, the water is shallow and calm, and there are all sorts of water sports such as Kayaking, paddle boats, water skiing, and even paragliding that you can hire right on the beach.

Behind the beach is a long boardwalk which connects with a small woodland of pine trees and a grass area which is a great place to settle for a picnic lunch. The boardwalk has lots of restaurants serving everything from Mallorcan food and locally caught fish, to Italian, burgers and fries, and there are lots of shops and hotels also.
