WHY NOT CONSIDER AN APARTMENT IN TORRVIEJA?

Until 1802, the town of Torrevieja in Spain was nothing but a guard tower – Torre vieja meaning “old tower” – and a few labourers’ cottages. However, in recent years it has expanded dramatically as tourists flock there now every year. In fact, the town has a population of around 100,000, over half of whom are not Spanish. There is a great ethnic mix of British, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, French, Belgians, Moroccans, and even Russians living there.

During the 1980’s and 1990’s there was a Spanish television programme which was a competition similar to Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and for which the star prize was a superb apartment in Torrevieja which was given to the winner. It is said that the increasingly rare Spaniards who are to be found in the town are mostly past winners of the game show who now meet up from time to time for a drink and to discuss their appearances on the show.
